Dear Neighbor,
Everyday Police Officers put their life on the line for our communities fully knowing the potential sacrifice they may make. They have taken an oath to serve and protect and at times public service may put them into harms way.
Keeping our schools, neighborhoods, and streets safe and making sure that you don’t have to worry about crime is our goal everyday. A vibrant community, such as Fairfax County, has a world-class police department. We work hard to keep it that way knowing that a crime-ridden community jeopardizes the well being of its citizens in many ways including hurting our property values and our schools.
The Fairfax Coalition of Police (FCOP), I.U.P.A. Local 5000 is the organization that represents over 950 Fairfax County Police Department active and retired employees. We protect your police by working together with your elected officials to pass legislation that safeguards your officers as well as our community. The FCOP is actively involved with local and state government to help draft and introduce legislation that helps to ensure the protection the entire community. During the last budget cycle, we spent over $40,000 and many, many hours to ensure 112 police officer positions were not eliminated.
We also strive to attract some of the best and brightest into our police department. Our goal is to recruit and retain the best of the best and make sure that we keep them working in our community long-term.
In times of tragedy, we assist the family members of fallen officers and help guide them through the toughest of times with the loss of their loved one.
“When tragedy struck my family, the Fairfax Coalition of Police provided immediate financial and legal support to me and my kids. Thank you for supporting our community’s police officers and this wonderful organization.”
-Donna Darconte wife of fallen police officer Vincent “Vinnie” Darconte
Please consider a gift of $200, $100, $50, $35 or whatever that you can afford, as it is going to protect the community as a whole and those who protect us. Without your help, we would not be able to serve our members with the aforementioned. When you donate to FCOP, it’s not only a 501c5 organization non-profit organization, but you will assist us with the operation and mission.
Your 2009 support means a great deal to our community and the police officers that protect it.
