FAIRFAX COUNTY POLICE HELICOPTER CELEBRATING 25 YEARS

WELCOME TO LOCAL 5000.org

Welcome to the Fairfax Coalition of Police (FCOP) website.  We represent over 900 rank and file employees of the Fairfax County Police Department who staff the eight district police stations, the operations support bureau, criminal investigations bureau, administrative support bureau and the Criminal Justice Academy.  These men and women are the first responders who protect our neighborhoods, investigate crime, protect our schools and work with the community to make Fairfax the safest county of its size in the United States. Our members are the officers you see every day and who stand ready to respond to any emergency under any conditions to protect the lives and welfare of our community.

While the officers of the Fairfax County police department fight to protect and improve the lives of all citizens, the FCOP works hard to improve the lives of our brothers and sisters in law enforcement through our involvement in activities that affect public safety personnel.   Our members advocate for better staffing, equipment, working conditions and benefits.  We believe that by attracting the highest quality law enforcement personnel to Fairfax County, by ensuring the welfare of their families, and by protecting the rights of our officers we can continue to maintain level of service our citizens expect and deserve.

We are committed to working cooperatively in these pursuits and our officers and civilian members appreciate the tremendous amount of support that we receive from members of the community.  The FCOP pledges to support our officers so that they can serve their families, the department and the citizens of Fairfax County.

“The test of police efficiency is the absence of crime and disorder, not the visible evidence of police action in dealing with it.  Police, at all times, should maintain a relationship with the public that gives reality to the historic tradition that the police are the public and the public are the police; the police being only members of the public who are paid to give full-time attention to duties which are incumbent upon every citizen in the interests of community welfare and existence.”  Sir Robert Peel 1829
